On behalf of the Shenzhen Charity Federation Captivating Fund,
Thank You
for once again, confirming for the world what an amazing community of people you are. Saturday, 11th October, 2025 saw 415 people come together to help improve the lives of young girls, moms, and their children. Once again, our thanks to the wonderful team at the Futian Shangri-la, Shenzhen for working with the Captivating auction committee team and so many volunteers to put on an amazing event.
Together, as a community village, we confirmed through our actions and generosity that indeed, ONE ACT can create an ENDLESS IMPACT to the 1,000 lives we will help progress over this next year together. These 1,000 lives (single moms, young women, and children) across Yunnan, Qinghai, Sichuan, Guangxi and Guizhou Provinces are specifically selected as those who are most in need of additional support to help progress. Together, we have made this next step possible – another step forward into better and more stable futures. At CAPTIVATING, we are thrilled to make this possible in partnership with the Shenzhen Charity Federation and our registered on-the-ground charity partners. And, we have this amazing Shenzhen community to thank for it.
We can confirm an amazing, RMB 1 million was raised thanks to this event. We are thrilled.
Because of this night, and thanks to the support of our incredible corporate project sponsors, over the coming 12 months:
- 180 moms struggling to make ends meet for their families will be trained in Captivating’s Pig & Chicken Farming Program where they will receive quality pigs and chickens, along with 8 months of training and support. This gives them the opportunity to increase their monthly earning capacity, benefiting their 360+ children and aging parents as a result;
- 30 moms in Qinghai province will receive specialized tailoring training making it possible for them to earn income from their remote home locations and local tailoring businesses, benefiting upwards of 60+ lives including children and aging parents;
- 500 underprivileged students in remote Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou will be supported through another year of senior high school, bringing financial relief to both them and their parents struggling with the costs of senior schooling; and
- 1,300 primary school students across remote locations will have a volunteer teacher help them through this next year. This event enables Captivating to reach our goal of supporting 30 teachers over these next 12 months.
To all of our event organizers; our incredibly hard-working auction committee and over 100 volunteers; our amazing school and business community; the many companies who donated goods for auction; our amazing group of artists and their artwork this year (co-curated by Brittan Aebischer, Gloria Carnevale, and Serena Cole); our awesome MC Jeremy Sargent, and amazing auctioneer Matthew Doige who worked hard for a solid two hours; our sound and lighting crew and DJ Pax who lead our audio/visual team for the 13th year; our incredibly generous corporate sponsors; event partners; and of course to you, our 415 guests – THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH. Shenzhen, You’ve Done it Again!
On behalf of the Shenzhen Charity Federation CAPTIVATING Fund, thank you so much for once again, confirming for the world what an amazing community of people you are. Saturday, 12th October, 2024 saw 500 people come together to help improve the lives of young girls, moms, and their children. Once again, our thanks to the wonderful team at the Futian Shangri-la, Shenzhen for working with the Captivating auction committee team and so many volunteers to put on an amazing event.
Together, as a community village, we confirmed through our actions and generosity that we are indeed “Standing with You” to the 1,000 lives we will help progress over this next year together. These 1,000 lives (single moms, young women, and children) across Yunnan, Qinghai, Sichuan, Guangxi and Guizhou Provinces are specifically selected as those who are most in need of additional support to help progress. Together, we have made this next step possible – another step forward into better and more stable futures. Saturday, Oct 21, 2023 – Shenzhen, you’ve done it again! This night will go down as one of the more challenging events we’ve organized with so much uncertainty, however, that didn’t stop a capacity crowd of 510 guests turning up ready to party and change the world.
Together, we’ve DREAMED for new possibilities, BELIEVED that together we can make a difference, and ACHIEVED our goal of helping 1,000 lives (single moms, young women, and children) across Yunnan, Qinghai, Sichuan, Guangxi, and Guizhou Provinces take another step forward into better and more stable futures. We’re thrilled to be tasked with making that happen, and have this amazing Shenzhen community to thank for it.
We can confirm an amazing, RMB 1.31 million was raised thanks to this event. We are thrilled.
Because of this night, over the coming 12 months (some starting within a matter of weeks):

Together, we “Dared to Dream”, and as a result of the generosity of everyone who attended, we were able to raise RMB 1.4 million, creating a direct impact on 1,000 lives (single moms, young women, and children) across provinces and remote locations in China. Over the coming 12 months:
- 120 women will be trained in Captivating’s My First Job Program as professional tailors and embroiderers, giving them the opportunity to increase their monthly earning capacity benefitting more than 240 children and aging parents
- 600 underprivileged students will be supported through another year of senior high or vocational school
- 30 volunteer teachers will be supported helping 1,000 primary school students in remote schools through the next school year

13th Annual Charity Auction
Saturday, Oct 16, 2021 was a record breaking year of attendance with over 600 guests, and a record-breaking year of impact. On behalf of the Shenzhen Charity Federation, thank you so much, Shenzhen, for confirming once again what an amazing community of people you are. We are also thankful to the wonderful team at the Futian Shangri-la, Shenzhen, for working with the Captivating team and volunteers to put on an amazing event.
“Together, we were definitely ONE”, and as a result of the generosity of everyone who attended, 1,000 lives (single moms, young women, and children) across Yunnan, Qinghai, Sichuan, and Guizhou provinces will feel the direct result of your support.
We can confirm an amazing record-breaking RMB 1.82 million was raised thanks to this event. Because of this, over the coming 12 months:
- 90 women will be trained as assistant chefs and professional tailors, enabling them to provide better support to their 200 children and aging parents
- 450 underprivileged students will be supported through another year of senior high or vocational school
- 20 volunteer teachers will be supported and sent across remote schools, helping 1,000 primary school students through the next school year
12th Annual Charity Auction
Saturday, Oct 17, 2020 – In a year where so many people are finding life challenging due to COVID, we have been once again so humbled by the generosity shown by our Shenzhen and wider community. Our goal for the night was to raise RMB 1.5 million and we were completely unsure what to expect coming into the night. Although an exact result is yet to be finalized, early indications indicate we have raised RMB 1.26 million. WE ARE THRILLED. SHENZHEN, YOU ARE AMAZING!
On behalf of the Shenzhen Charity Federation, thank you SO MUCH for being a part of our 12th year, Saturday, 17th October, 2020. And, once again, our thanks to the wonderful team at the Futian Shangri-la, Shenzhen.
Together, as a result of the generosity of everyone who attended, 1,000 lives (single moms, young women, and their children) will one day look back on 2020 as a turnaround year for them. A year of new beginnings and fortune.
Over these next 12 months (some starting within a matter of weeks):
- 125 single moms will start their own pig businesses and better support their 400 children and aging parents;
- 150 women with be trained as assistant chefs and professional tailors, then mentored into their first job. This will help them better support their 450 children and parents; and
- 100 teenage girls will get back to school by starting a career of their choosing at vocational school. They will be joining another 200 girls already enrolled in this program.

Saturday night, 13th October, will be remembered for a long time as a night of grace, emotion, laughter, excitement, astonishment and exceeding generosity. Together, you raised RMB 1.4 million, helping Captivating in partnership with the Shenzhen Charity Federation, Shamtse Charity and LOVEQTRA, to seal the deal on impacting the lives of close to 1,000 girls this calendar year. SHENZHEN, YOU DID IT.
Having set an aggressive aim of raising RMB1.5 millions, we only dreamed we could get this close. In the process, over the coming 12 months (some starting within a matter of weeks):
- 100 single moms will start with own pig business
- 100 families will own their own greenhouse
- 400 children will be more secure in their schooling
- 427 women will attend health training
- 46 girls will start vocational schooling
- 80 girls will continue to be supported at the Seng Girls Home.

10th Annual Charity Auction

9th Annual Charity Auction
Saturday, Oct 14, 2017 – Because you cared:
- 57 girls received a second chance at getting an education
- Over 300 women received desperately needed medical exams and health and hygiene education for themselves and to share with their daughters
- 100 new greenhouses were funded allowing families to feed themselves and earn enough money to keep their kids to school
- 104 single mothers started their own pig breeding business after receiving expert training and two breeding sows
- 100 girls at the Seng Girls Home continued in their education program.

8th Annual Charity Auction
Saturday, October 22, 2016 – Once again saw guests filling the grand ballroom of the Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen China, in support of the Annual Captivating Charity Auction. The event, now in its 8th year, was run in partnership with the Shenzhen Charity Federation – a fantastic partnership that will continue into the future. The evening was amazing. The results were worth it. Net revenue for the night after deducting event and venue expenses was an amazing RMB 1.08 million.
Through Captivating’s charity partners: The Shenzhen Charity Federation, SHAMTSE, and LOVEQTRA (The Seng Girls Home), funds raised from this year’s event were used to impact the lives of more than 1,000 girls and many of their families in remote locations of Western China. With a focus on solutions such as greenhouses, solar panels, animal husbandry, health education and vocational school scholarships, Captivating and their partners made dreams come true thanks to the generosity of donors and sponsors like you.
7th Annual Charity Auction
Saturday, October 17, 2015 marked Captivating International’s 7th Annual Charity Gala & Auction once again at the glamorous Futian Shangri-La. Attended by a record breaking (and maximum capacity) 597 guests from Shenzhen and Hong Kong, the evening was awarded the ‘best event ever’ label by many long-term event attendees. Our thanks to an amazing auction committee and team for so many hours of dedicated work. The results were worth it, raising HK$1.6m (US$215k) to support the work in Nepal and Western China.
6th Annual Charity Auction
Saturday, October 11, 2014 marked Captivating International’s 6th Annual Charity Gala & Auction at the Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen, China. Attended by 530 guests largely from Shenzhen’s foreign community, the event started with an amazing high energy dance performance by students from local international schools, QSI & SIS, along with several girls from the Seng Girls Vocational School and Home program. This wonderful dance set the tone for the night to the theme, “We are full of Wonder” – testament to the fact that all children around the world have so much to offer, and yet many cannot do so because of poverty, injustice or prejudice. Thanks to amazing sponsors, donors and auction winners, RMB1.56 million was raised to support work in Western China through approved local charities.

The Art Auction Preview: An Evening of Short Stories, was created last year to highlight a category of incredible donations that sometimes need a little more time before a serious investment. Some of these very special artists (international and local) have spent up to a month of their time creating amazing work to help provide real solutions and hope to some of the most underprivileged girls, women, and their children in rural China, so we don’t want you to miss them!
